Timber is quality wood obtained by cutting tree logs horizontally. It goes through a drying process depending on tree type and thickness after which it gains extra robustness. It is used in many different areas of construction and furniture industry. Timber type is selected based on its final use. It is divided into two categories namely hardwood and softwood. The hardwood category includes timber made from birch and oak while the softwood includes timber made from trees like spruce and pine. Hardwood is mostly preferred in delicate woodwork while softwood is preferred mostly in products like doors or boxes.
